About the course
Woollahra Golf Club is a public nine-hole course at 50 O'Sullivan Road, Rose Bay, next to Royal Sydney Golf Club and about 10 minutes from the Sydney CBD. The club was formed in 1927 on the initiative of John Lough, the Town Clerk of Woollahra Council, and the course opened to the public on 11 April 1932. In 1942 a shell fired from a Japanese submarine landed, unexploded, near the pump house on the 6th fairway. Council bought land from Royal Sydney in 1953 to expand the course, and when the club took over its management in 1960 a new layout by Prosper Ellis was introduced.
The course is a par 34 of about 2,530 metres from the men's tees, with seven par 4s and two par 3s, and an 18-hole round plays the nine twice.
- 1st: a 300-metre par 4 with out of bounds left and a steep bank and false front at the green.
- 3rd: the longest hole, a 400-metre par 4 around a slight dogleg left to an elevated green.
- 4th: a 180-metre par 3 where the wind decides club selection, with a bunker and canal to the right.
- 9th: the signature hole, a 100-metre par 3 from elevated tees to a heavily contoured green ringed by deep bunkers.
Public golfers register once, then book online, with timesheets opening four days ahead at 6pm. Weekday green fees from 1 July 2026 are $51 for 18 holes and $39 for nine, rising to $55 and $41 on weekends, and twilight golf in the last 90 minutes of light is $26. Every player needs their own clubs. Carts are $40 for 18 holes and $25 for nine, and pull buggies $5.
The practice facility is open to members and visitors with range balls from the pro shop, which also hires clubs and offers lessons and club fitting. The clubhouse has a dining and bar area and function rooms.
