About the course
Palmerston Golf and Country Club is a public club at the corner of University Avenue and Dwyer Circuit, Palmerston, about 16 minutes' drive from Darwin's city centre. The course was first built in 1995 and redesigned in 2005 by Glenn Campbell, who added a new nine on the Durack side. The clubhouse and back nine are in Driver and the front nine is across University Avenue in Durack, a split intended to give two contrasting nines. The club has hosted the Northern Territory PGA Championship since 2016.
The 18-hole course plays to par 71 over about 35 hectares of tropical and native parkland. The front nine is the stronger half, with long fairways, testing greens and water in play on six holes. The back nine is heavily wooded and calls for accuracy from the tee and into the greens. The club's website has drone footage of each hole.
The course is open to the public and welcomes local, interstate and overseas visitors. The club's price poster lists weekday green fees of $32 for 18 holes and $22 for nine (seniors $24 and $18), and weekend and public holiday fees of $37 and $32. Carts cost $40 for 18 holes and $30 for nine on weekdays, and $45 and $35 at weekends. Pull buggies are $5 and club hire $15, and on Mondays and Tuesdays a second green fee is free, except on public holidays. Book through the pro shop on (08) 8932 2681 or proshop@palmerstongolfcourse.com.au. Club competitions are held on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. A dress code applies, and BYO alcohol is not allowed.
The pro shop opens 7am to 7pm daily and stocks equipment, apparel and hire gear. The clubhouse has the Caddies Bistro (lunch noon to 2pm, dinner 5.30pm to 8.30pm daily), a sports bar with TAB and Keno, a gaming room and a large undercover function area. Junior clinics run on Tuesdays during school terms.
