About the course

7 Mile Golf is a links course on the 7 Mile Beach peninsula, about ten minutes from Hobart Airport and 25 minutes from the Hobart CBD. The project was led by Hobart professional Mat Goggin: the site, coastal dunes once covered in pine plantation, was identified in 2010, Clayton DeVries came on board in 2016, construction began in 2020, preview play started in June 2025 and all 18 holes opened to the public in December 2025.

The South Course was designed by Mike Clayton and Mike DeVries of CDP Golf. It is a par 72 laid out over a ridge, dune valleys and holes that drop back to sea level, with views to Tiger Head Bay and kunanyi / Mt Wellington. It is grassed in fescue from wall to wall, with short grass around every green, and has only 37 bunkers.

  • 3rd: a 510-metre par 5 with a cliff along the second shot.
  • 6th: a 415-metre par 4 with a narrow fairway and a dune in the middle, the hardest hole to par.
  • 8th: a 390-metre par 4 with two greens.
  • 12th: the longest hole, a 550-metre par 5 crossed by a diagonal ridge.
  • 17th: a 145-metre par 3 with the longest green on the course.

The course is open to the public, and the South Course plays every day except Tuesday. Tee times are requested online at book.7milegolf.com.au after a short sign-up, for groups of up to eight; larger groups and gift card holders book by email. The green fee is $225 for 18 holes, shown in the booking system rather than on the website. To get there, drive east past the airport, turn right into Pittwater Road and follow the signed gravel road for about 5 km, keeping left at both forks.

A second 18, the North Course by King Collins Dormer, is under construction on the northern side of the peninsula.
