About the course

Barnbougle Lost Farm, the second 18-hole course at Barnbougle near Bridport on Tasmania's north-east coast, was officially opened on 10 December 2010. It sits beside Barnbougle Dunes, across the river, about an hour's drive from Launceston. Bill Coore of Coore & Crenshaw was head architect and took a minimal approach, fitting the holes to the natural land.

Lost Farm has 20 holes, and all of them can be played in a round. The standard 18 make a par 72, and two extra par 3s, the 13a and 18a, add to the round. Holes run along the coast, beside the Forester River and inland through dunes that are much steeper than those at The Dunes. The fairways are wide, with strategic bunkering and undulating greens.

  • 8th: the longest hole, a 554-metre par 5.
  • 13a: an extra 121-metre par 3.
  • 14th: a 263-metre par 4.
  • 18th: a 420-metre par 4, followed by the 119-metre 18a.

Barnbougle is open to the public. For the high season from 1 October 2026 to 30 April 2027 the Australian green fee, which applies to both The Dunes and Lost Farm, is $199 for 18 holes, with all-day golf $300 on one course and $320 across both; the international 18-hole rate is $285. The 14-hole Bougle Run short course, a Bill Coore design of 12 par 3s and two par 4s in the dunes between Lost Farm's two nines, is $110. Barnbougle is a walking venue: motorised carts are only provided, driven by a caddie, for golfers with a medical certificate. Caddies and hire clubs are available.

The Lost Farm practice facility has putting greens, a driving range and a chipping green with bunkers, with range balls from $6 a bucket, and PGA professionals give range and playing lessons. The Lost Farm Restaurant sits on a coastal dune overlooking the course and is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and there is also the Lost Farm Sports Bar. Accommodation is available at Lost Farm Lodge.
