About the course
Burnie Golf Club is on Scarfe Street, Camdale, off the Bass Highway near the Cam River and a few minutes west of Burnie, in a tree-lined setting. The course combines length, undulating ground, tight driving holes and tricky greens.
It is a nine-hole course played twice, a par 72 of 5966 metres for men (slope 121) and 5022 metres for women (slope 117). Out of bounds runs down the left side of several holes.
- 3rd: a par 5 that can be reached in two, with out of bounds left and behind the green and a big tree to drive over or around.
- 4th: rated by the club as the hardest hole, long and straight uphill to a two-tiered green.
- 6th: a short uphill par 3, the easiest hole on the course.
- 7th: a long par 5 climbing all the way to a sloping green with about three clubs' difference from front to back.
The course is open to visitors and members. An adult day pass costs $26 and a junior pass $10, and both can be paid online. Weekly competitions run most days: stablefords on Monday, Thursday and Sunday, veterans and an invitational stableford on alternate Tuesdays, a nine-hole Chicken Run on Wednesdays and Fridays, and the main competition on Saturday. Fixtures and online booking are on the club's booking portal. Electric carts are available for hire for golf days.
The club has a Foresight golf simulator with an indoor driving range and thousands of virtual courses, bookable online or on 0364 351443, with clubs supplied free. The bar opens on Tuesday from noon to 5pm, Thursday from 10am to 6pm, Friday from noon to 6pm and Saturday from 10am to 6pm. The clubrooms, which include a private function room and bar, host weddings, meetings and corporate or charity golf days.
