About the course

Golf has been played at Seabrook since 1923, when the club began with nine holes on the sand dunes at East Wynyard, on the North West coast between Wynyard and Burnie. A second nine was built in the 1960s on the river flats along Seabrook Creek, making 18 holes. From the 1940s to the 1970s the club drew members from Burnie's business community and employed up to four greenkeepers, a secretary-manager and a golf professional, and membership peaked at 340 in 2005. In 2014 members sold the land holding the top nine holes, which cleared the club's debt and paid for new equipment and work on the course and clubhouse.

The course now sits on the low ground beside Seabrook Creek, between 2 and 6 metres above sea level, and areas below about 3.2 metres can be wet in winter. In 2023 it was changed to an 11-hole layout. Each tee has front, middle and back positions, distance markers stand at 100 and 150 metres on both sides of each fairway, and the greens are cut at least three times a week to a minimum speed of 11 on the Stimpmeter.

Visitors are welcome. Green fees are paid at Birdies Pro Shop or through the docket box at the front of the clubhouse, and tee times can be booked online. The Wednesday invitational is open to any golfer with a Golf Australia handicap, and a nine-hole twilight competition with a barbecue runs on Wednesday afternoons during daylight saving. The members' monthly medal is on the first Saturday of each month, and some Saturday events are invitational.

Birdies Pro Shop, run by Sam Cotton, manages competitions and green fees, sells equipment and does repairs and regripping, with a Trackman launch monitor for club fittings. Lessons are with PGA teaching professional Alex Hamilton. The club also has simulator bays.
