About the course

Claremont Golf Club is in Hobart's northern suburbs, on a peninsula with the Derwent River on three sides and views to kunanyi / Mt Wellington and Mt Direction. It describes itself as a private club with public access.

The 18-hole course measures 5,362 metres from the blue tees to a par of 69, with six par 3s, nine par 4s and three par 5s. From the red tees it plays 4,964 metres to par 72.

1st: a 456-metre par 5 to open.
2nd: the longest of the par 3s at 180 metres.
6th: the shortest hole, a 126-metre par 3.
16th: a 416-metre par 4.
17th: the longest hole, a 472-metre par 5.

Visitors pay $75 for 18 holes and $45 for nine. Guests introduced by a member pay $45 and $35, students over 18 pay $30 for 18 holes and under 18s $20. Motorised carts cost $55 for 18 holes and $35 for nine, and hire clubs $45 and $30. Book through the golf shop on 03 6249 1000 or by email to the pro shop. Players from other clubs, including GolfLink-registered social clubs, can enter competitions for the $75 fee plus the competition fee. Group packages can bundle hire, a meal and instruction.

The dress code asks for collared or crew-neck shirts and tailored pants or shorts; neat jeans are allowed, but T-shirts, beachwear, football shorts and tracksuit pants are not, and thongs and sandals are banned.

The on-site golf shop is run in partnership with Drummond Golf and is open until 5pm seven days. The clubhouse has full catering and a bar, and handles anything from a light snack to a catered function.
