About the course
The Championship Course is a new 18-hole layout at Country Club Tasmania, the resort on Country Club Avenue at Prospect Vale near Launceston. It was designed by architect Robin Gibson and is due to open in December 2026. Tee times can already be booked, and the course is closed while work is finished. Ricky Ponting is the course's official ambassador.
It is a parkland course built around waterways, creeks and bunkers, with contoured championship greens. The resort has published a preview of the back nine:
- 10th (Love Island): a par 4 with water to carry from the tee.
- 12th (Hidden Depths): a par 3 among creeks and tall gums, where a contour at the front hides much of the green.
- 13th (Peninsula): a par 5 from a tee surrounded by water, played as a lay-up or attacked in two.
- 17th (The Funnel): a downhill par 3 past rock walls and gums to a multi-tiered green.
- 18th (Final Reckoning): fairway bunkers, a wide, shallow green and a waterfall beside the hole.
The course is open to the public, with tee times booked online, and every green fee includes a warm-up at The Range. Australian players pay $245 for 18 holes and $150 for nine in summer (October to April), and $220 and $135 in winter (May to September). International visitors pay $290 and $180 in summer and $260 and $160 in winter. All-day rates and stay-and-play packages are also offered. A dress code applies.
The Range is the resort's practice and entertainment centre, with 28 covered, heated bays using Toptracer technology and food and drink served in the bay, an 18-hole mini golf course designed by Richard Chamberlain, and a clubhouse bar and restaurant. It opens daily except Christmas Day. Coaching is not offered there at present. The resort also has a pro shop, and a 10% surcharge applies on Sundays.
