About the course

Geeveston Golf Club is on McKibbens Road at Geeveston in the Huon Valley. The club was formed in August 1932, during the Depression, at a meeting at Geeveston High School, after John and Sam McKibben offered land for a course. A clubhouse near the sixth green followed in the mid-1930s, with sheep grazing part of the land.

War closed the original course in 1942, and after 1945 golf was played on a small course where the tennis club now stands. The club revived in 1952 and returned to its first site, building a new clubhouse on its present location in 1954. In the late 1990s it bought John McKibben's farm and 18 acres from Wilfred McKibben and began improving the course. Two holes were closed in 2010 because of maintenance and weather problems, which left the present layout of ten holes and 18 tees. The club marked 90 years in 2023.

Members and volunteers maintain the course, and visitors are welcome at any time through the week and at weekends, including in local competitions.

  • Wednesday: 9am check-in for a 9.30am tee-off, $10 competition fee; the first Wednesday of the month is the women's monthly medal and men's stroke event.
  • Wednesday twilight: the Chocolate Run from 4pm.
  • Saturday: 9am check-in for a 9.30am tee-off, $15 competition fee; the first Saturday of the month is an open monthly medal.

The club's website does not list social green fees, so call 03 6297 1666 before you travel.
