About the course

Ballan Golf Club was founded in 1924 and plays beside the Werribee River at Ballan, about 78 km from Melbourne and signposted from the Western Highway.

The course is mostly flat and lined with trees, with a couple of short, steep hills, holes that cross the river and Santa Ana couch greens. It was recently lengthened to a par of 69 and the holes were renumbered at the same time, so the former 15th now opens the round. When par was 62 the course record stood at 58, a score achieved only once.

There are no motorised carts for hire, but push buggies are available. Rounds are booked by phone on 0409 798 757 or through the booking request form on the club website, which asks for the date, time, group name and number of players. The website does not publish green fees, so confirm the rate when booking.

Members play a monthly medal on the first Saturday of each month and a Wednesday stableford for the Reg Larcombe Memorial Trophy, plus a Saturday house teams event over ten rounds between January and November. Club championships are played across February and March. In spring 2026 the club ran free come-and-try clinics with a coach on Tuesday afternoons for people new to the game.
