About the course

Barwon Valley Golf Club is a public 18-hole course on Barwon Heads Road in Belmont, about 3 kilometres from central Geelong. The course sits between the Barwon River on one side and wetlands with plenty of birdlife on the other.

It measures 5540 metres and is flat, which makes it an easy walk, and the club pitches it at golfers of all handicaps. Most fairways are now Santa Ana couch, and the club notes that its greens have long had a good reputation for their condition.

Green fee players are welcome. Fees from 1 September 2026 are $50 for 18 holes and $40 for nine, with seniors paying $45 and $35 and juniors $35 and $30. Tee times can be booked and paid for online. Carts cost $50 for 18 holes and $35 for nine, pull buggies $7 and hire clubs $20. The club is open seven days from 7am to 8pm, although hours may change.

Practice facilities are extensive for a public course: a 16-bay driving range with eight undercover bays and a separate grass tee area, open daily from 7am to 8pm with no booking needed (a token of about 45 balls is $15 for the public), plus two practice putting greens and a chipping green. Geelong Golf Academy is the club's professional and gives individual and group lessons. The clubhouse has a bar, with snacks on match days.
