About the course

Queens Park Golf Club lies in a valley beside the Barwon River at Highton, in the Queens Park sporting precinct about 5 kilometres west of central Geelong, with a walking track nearby to Buckley Falls. The City of Newtown and Chilwell opened a nine-hole sand scrape course on the site in 1936, and the club was formed at a meeting in the Newtown Town Hall in July 1948. The layout grew to 18 holes from 1975, when the council added holes on land once known as the Botanical Gardens. The river has flooded the low-lying holes several times, most recently in 2011 and 2022. Since 2023 the golf shop and café have been run by the management company Clublinks, while the City of Greater Geelong's parks team looks after the course.

The course is short, playing to par 66 from the men's blue tees and par 67 from the women's red tees, with eight par 3s and only two par 5s.

  • 1st: a 248-metre par 4 that doglegs left and climbs steeply over its final 100 metres.
  • 6th: a 364-metre par 4, stroke index 1, recently extended with a new green and pinched on the right by a large pine.
  • 13th: a 453-metre par 5 driven out of a chute of trees, with out of bounds and the river to the right.
  • 18th: a 180-metre par 3 finish, with powerlines along the right and the oval out of bounds on the left.

The course is open to the public every day from first light to last light, except Christmas Day, outside member competitions on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. Weekday green fees are $38 for 18 holes and $26 for nine, rising to $42 and $30 on weekends and public holidays, with weekday concessions and twilight rates. Book online or through the golf shop. Carts are $48 for 18 holes and $34 for nine, and pull buggies and clubs can be hired.

The public driving range is open daily from 6am to 7.30pm, there is a practice putting green, and a PGA professional runs lessons and clinics. The café and bar opens from sunrise to sunset for coffee, takeaway meals and drinks.
