About the course
The Dunes Golf Links is a public course at 335 Browns Road, Rye, in the Cups region of the Mornington Peninsula, about 90 minutes from Melbourne. It sits on around 300 acres of rolling sand dunes, and the 18-hole course was designed by Tony Cashmore.
The main course is a par 72 links of 6,459 metres from the back tees, with shorter tees for other players.
- 1st: a 409-metre par 4 rated the hardest hole, with a hollow at the front of the green and deep bunkers around it.
- 6th: a steeply downhill par 3 of up to 208 metres to a large green with water behind.
- 13th: a 160-metre par 3 to a green set in a dell, needing a full carry.
- 17th: a 179-metre par 3 to an elevated, heavily bunkered green.
Alongside it is the Cups Course, a nine-hole links with a second set of tees on each hole so it can be played as 18. It is shorter and more forgiving, with lower rough and shallower bunkers, and suits juniors and beginners.
The Dunes is open seven days from 6.30am to 6pm. From 1 October 2026 adult green fees on the main course are $110 Monday to Thursday and $135 Friday to Sunday and on public holidays. Adults pay $50 for nine holes on the Cups. Carts are $50 for 18 holes and $30 for nine. Book online or call (03) 5985 1334. Collared shirts and soft spikes are required on The Dunes, with no denim; dress on the Cups is more relaxed.
Facilities include a driving range over 300 metres long with turf and synthetic tees and target greens, where drivers can be used, a chipping and bunker area and a large putting green, with lessons and clinics. The clubhouse restaurant overlooks the 9th green and serves breakfast and lunch from 6.30am to 6pm, and Links Lodge offers one and two-bedroom accommodation.
