About the course
Belvoir Park Golf Club is set in the Big Hill ranges off the Calder Highway, 3 km south of Kangaroo Flat and about 5 km from Bendigo South. Its roots are in the Kangaroo Flat Golf Club, a nine-hole sand-scrape course behind the Kangaroo Flat railway station, whose members moved to leased land on Belvoir Park Road. The club's history records 12 holes opening there in May 1946, while the club gives 1947 as its founding year. Members later bought the course, and in the 1960s it was known for having the best sand scrapes in the district. Between 1998 and 2000 the course was converted to grass greens designed by Kevin Hartley, with members sewing the hessian covers that protected the new greens, and a pro shop was added in 2015.
The 18 holes have contoured fairways, large greens and changes in elevation with views over the ranges, yet the terrain is gentle enough to walk with a hand buggy. The club's signature holes are the par 4 1st, the par 3 3rd, the par 5 9th, the par 3 11th with 360-degree views of the Big Hill ranges, the par 4 14th and the par 3 16th.
Green fees are $40 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, and carts are $40, from a fleet of 10 petrol carts. Five hire sets include one left-handed and one women's set. Competitions close the course to green fee players on Wednesday and Saturday until 1pm, while Monday and Tuesday competitions run alongside green fee play. Visitors with a Golflink number can enter the weekend competitions, and social golfers can play after them. Book by phoning the pro shop on (03) 5435 3370 or 0428 001 757.
The resident PGA professional offers coaching, lessons and club fitting, and the pro shop stocks equipment, apparel and accessories.
