About the course

Brighton Golf Course is a public 18-hole course on Dendy Street, Brighton, about 15 minutes from Melbourne's CBD. It plays on sandbelt country, with a short, tricky front nine followed by a longer and harder back nine. Narrow, tree-lined fairways, gentle rolling ground and small, well-bunkered bent-grass greens are the main features, and the layout includes six par 3s and a single par 5.

  • 2nd: a 252-metre par 4 that long hitters can try to drive.
  • 9th: the only par 5 on the course, 487 metres and long into a headwind.
  • 12th: a 388-metre par 4 played straight uphill, rated by the club as one of the hardest holes.
  • 13th: a 132-metre par 3 with a green about 40 metres long, so pin position changes the club choice.
  • 14th: at 403 metres the longest par 4, favouring a drawn tee shot.

The course is open to the public seven days, from 6am to 7pm in summer and 6:30am to 6pm in winter, and is closed on Christmas Day. Adult green fees are $44.50 for 18 holes and $33.50 for nine. Pensioner rates apply Monday to Friday, and senior rates on weekdays after 12pm. Carts cost $48.50 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, buggies $7 and hire clubs $29. Tee times can be booked online, and multi-round visit passes and memberships are available.

The pro shop stocks equipment and apparel and offers club fitting and repairs, including regripping and reshafting. PGA professional Luke O'Sullivan gives lessons on the course or the range, from $100 for 30 minutes, and the course runs junior golf programs.
