About the course

Dorset Golf is a public 18-hole course on Trawalla Road in Croydon, in Melbourne's outer east, with the Dandenong Ranges as its backdrop. It is owned and run by Maroondah City Council through Maroondah Leisure, which also operates Ringwood Golf, and a single membership covers unlimited golf at both courses.

The course has wide, open fairways and large greens. It is open seven days a week from first light to dusk, and closes only on Christmas Day.

Anyone can play. Midweek green fees are $42 for 18 holes and $33 for nine, rising to $49 and $37 on weekends and public holidays. Senior and concession rates apply midweek, and junior rates apply every day. Bookings are recommended and can be made online or by phone up to seven days ahead; the person making a booking must be in the group, and one person can book a maximum of four players. Hire clubs (with a buggy) cost $27 for 18 holes, and a GPS cart is $47 for 18 holes midweek or $50 on weekends.

Dorset Golf Club runs competitions on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday mornings, with a mixed nine-hole twilight event on summer Wednesdays, and women's groups play on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Practice facilities include a 100-metre driving range, practice nets and a putting green. The golf shop sells equipment and clothing, does regripping and club repairs, and offers fittings with a PGA professional or club fitter. A kiosk inside the shop has packaged hot and cold food, cold drinks and a coin-operated coffee machine. Lessons, monthly adult clinics, junior MyGolf programs and school holiday programs are available.
