About the course
Morack Public Golf is an 18-hole public course on the corner of Morack and East Roads in Vermont South, in Melbourne's east. The facility is owned by Whitehorse City Council and run by Swing Factory. Major course works were under way at the time of writing, so check the notice on the booking sheet for current restrictions.
The course plays to a par of 69 with six par 3s and three par 5s, and measures about 4681 metres from the shortest markers and 5105 metres from the longest. Tees are not assigned by gender: white tees are shorter and more social, black tees longer. The longest hole is the 467-metre par-5 10th, and the 13th is a par 3 that ranges from 111 to 178 metres depending on the tee.
The course is open to everyone from dawn to dusk, with no membership or handicap needed. Weekday green fees are $39 for 18 holes, and shorter rounds of 8, 10 and 12 holes cost $27 to $33. On weekends and public holidays 18 holes cost $44. An afternoon special from 2pm and a twilight rate from 5pm cut the price further, and juniors and concession holders pay less. Rounds can be booked online, but carts ($50 for 18 holes) and hire clubs must be added by phone. There is no strict dress code, and alcohol is not allowed on the course.
The driving range has 28 bays with Toptracer, unlimited balls and lounge bays, and is open until 10pm most nights. There is also an 18-hole mini golf course, golf lessons, a scramble league and closest-to-the-pin competitions. Cafe M serves brunch daily from 7am to 3pm, and the clubhouse bar and lounge stay open into the evening.
