About the course

Eynesbury Golf Club is about 40 minutes west of the Melbourne CBD, at the centre of the Eynesbury estate and next to 288 hectares of Grey Box Forest. The course was designed by Graham Marsh and opened in 2007, and its 18th hole finishes beside the 1872 Eynesbury Homestead, which now houses the restaurant and function rooms.

The par 72 course measures 6577 metres from the back tees, with four sets of tees. Marsh set out generous fairways but placed the bunkers so that the right side of each fairway gives the best angle into the green, and most approaches can be run in along the ground, which helps when the wind blows across the open farmland. Creeks cross a number of holes, and water comes into play on the 10th, 14th and 18th.

  • 4th: a 460-metre par 4 that asks for a carry over the left fairway bunker and a second shot over a centre bunker that partly hides the green.
  • 14th: 420 metres, with water and a rocky creek down the right that then crosses in front of the green.
  • 18th: 403 metres, with a creek to carry and the lake hard on the left.

The course is open to the public seven days a week. Midweek green fees are $55 for 18 holes and $35 for nine when prepaid online, or $65 and $40 otherwise; weekend prepaid rates are $79 and $45. Phone bookings are only taken within three days of play, at the non-prepaid rate. Carts cost $50 for 18 holes from a fleet of 50, and hire clubs are available.

There is a driving range, and the club's professionals give private, group and junior lessons. The pro shop is in the old bluestone stables, alongside the Birdy & Co cafe, and the Ms Peacock restaurant and bar is in the homestead.
