About the course
Hidden Valley Resort Golf Course is at Wallan, about 55 minutes north of the Melbourne CBD and 30 minutes from Melbourne Airport. The 18-hole course is part of the Hidden Valley Resort, set on more than 450 acres of rolling hills, and Craig Parry was a consultant on the project. The resort is managed by Golf Services Management (GSM Golf).
The par 73 course runs across the valley floor and measures 6498 metres from the black tees and 6090 metres from the white, with slope ratings of 133 and 128. Every hole has several tee positions, and the greens are fast. The round opens with a 381-metre par 4 and finishes at the 18th, a par 3 of up to 166 metres to an island green.
Green fee players are welcome seven days a week, with a local rate (photo ID required) available after 1pm on weekends. Tee times can be booked online or through the Sports Hub on 03 4701 0088. Soft spikes are required and metal spikes are not allowed. The dress code is relaxed: neat T-shirts and tidy denim are allowed, but beachwear, tracksuit pants and sandals are not.
Practice facilities include a 250-metre, 10-bay driving range, open until 4pm daily (closed until 11am on Thursdays), and a 300-square-metre putting green. The Sports Hub has a pro shop, drinks and on-site regripping and respiking. The Grove Bar & Bistro serves lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Saturday and lunch on Sunday, and the resort has townhouse accommodation with stay-and-play packages, as well as a gym, indoor pool and tennis courts.
