About the course
Ivanhoe Public Golf Course is an 18-hole public course on Vasey Street in Ivanhoe, in Melbourne's north-east, bordered by the Yarra River. The course is fully watered, with undulating, tree-lined fairways, elevated tees, bunkers, lagoons and ponds, and large gums and pines that come into play along with water and out of bounds on several holes.
At 4513 metres the course plays to a par of 68 for men and 70 for women, with a short back nine of four par 3s.
- 2nd: a 379-metre par 4 and the second hardest hole on the card, a demanding drive for players who shape the ball left to right.
- 6th: the only par 5, 435 metres, with a fairway that bends to suit a left-to-right shot.
- 13th: a 356-metre par 4 with water short and right and an elevated green that falls away sharply at the front.
- 17th: a 213-metre par 4 that doglegs right past water, out of bounds and a large gum.
- 18th: a 115-metre par 3 played uphill to a two-tiered green.
The course is open to the public from 6am to 7pm daily during daylight saving and 6am to 6pm the rest of the year, closing only on Christmas Day. Weekday green fees are $41 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, rising to $42 and $31 on weekends, with weekday rates for seniors, pensioners and students and a junior rate. Eighteen-hole rounds can be booked online. Carts cost $45 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, and full and premium club sets are available for hire.
The pro shop sells equipment and apparel, and PGA professionals run private lessons, junior programs and clinics. The Unleash Studio offers club fitting and simulator hire, and the Ivanhoe Pavilion cafe and function room sits beside the course.
