About the course
The Kyneton club was founded in 1900 on a site at Three Chain Road, moved to Baynton Road in 1909 with a nine-hole course, and in 1929 opened an 18-hole course on leased land beside the Calder Highway. When that land was sold at auction in 1949, the club bought 152 acres on the west side of Blackhill Road. Course architect Vernon Morcom, whose earlier work included Kingston Heath, Victoria, Spring Valley and Barwon Heads, drew up the design in early 1950, and members built it with volunteer labour. It opened on 13 May 1950, and the old clubhouse was moved across and rebuilt on the new site. Kyneton is about an hour from Melbourne.
The course plays to par 70 over couch fairways, with the club's hole guide totalling 5832 metres.

- 10th: a 431-metre par 4.
- 11th: the shortest hole, a 135-metre par 3.
- 14th: a 457-metre par 5.
The public is welcome outside members' competition times. Casual green fees are $35 for 18 holes and $20 for nine, and juniors pay $10 and $5. Pay cash at the honesty box or by card through a QR code, or book a tee time online. Motorised carts are $50 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, and hire clubs are $10. Groups of more than 10 get 10 per cent off and must book with the club. Competitions are held on Tuesday (women), Wednesday (midweek) and Saturday mornings (members, with a monthly medal on the first Saturday), and visitors with an official handicap can enter by paying the green fee and competition fee. On Saturdays all players, including green fee players, report to the starter.
The clubhouse has a full bar, an open fireplace, bar snacks and a barbecue for groups, and when staffed sells balls, gloves and tees. Pull buggies and second-hand clubs can be hired. The Kyneton Golf Bowling Club, formed in 1970, shares the site.
