About the course
Lara Golf Club plays on a City of Greater Geelong course at 125 Elcho Road, Lara. The club was established on 17 June 2014, evolving from the Elcho Park Golf Club, and the council sets and collects the green fees.
The 18 holes have Santa Ana couch fairways and greens. A $3.4 million upgrade has added a new irrigation system, pump house, driving range and pro shop. From 31 August 2026 the course returned to nine holes while irrigation was installed on the back nine, with the work due to finish before Christmas, so check the club's website for the current layout before visiting.
New members, visitors and green fee players are welcome. Tee times are booked through TeeNet, or by phoning the kiosk for help. Weekday fees are $34 for 18 holes and $26 for nine, rising to $39 and $31 at weekends and on public holidays, with concession and student rates available. Carts for non-members cost $40 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, hire clubs $10 or $5, and push buggies $5. Men's competitions run on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 7am, and the women's on Tuesday mornings at 8:30am.
The new driving range has 14 separated bays, seven of them undercover and one set up for teaching, with an automatic card-operated ball dispenser; non-members pay $8 for 25 balls, $12 for 50 and $20 for 100. The kiosk is open from 7am to 7pm and sells golf accessories, and a large function room with a kitchen and full bar is available for hire.
