About the course
Metung Country Club is at 94 Kings Cove Boulevard, Metung, in the Gippsland Lakes district of East Gippsland, about 500 metres along a path from Metung Hot Springs. Its public nine-hole course has views over the lakes and has been redesigned with a resort-style look.
The course is open to the public seven days, and bookings are essential, by phone on 03 5141 2327 or by email. Green fees are $40 for nine holes and $50 for 18, with children paying $10 and $15. Electric carts cost $30 for nine holes and $40 for 18, and club hire is $10. The pro shop is open from 7.30am to 4pm daily. Annual memberships include golf seven days a week, except during competitions, and access to the practice facilities.
PGA professional Matt Portelli gives private lessons at the club on Tuesdays from 9am to 1pm, booked through his website. The clubhouse is open Tuesday to Sunday, with the bar trading from 11am to 5pm and food served from 11am to 3pm. It offers barista coffee, regional wines and craft beers, and a cabinet of seasonal grab-and-go food using Gippsland produce. The clubhouse also hosts functions, from weddings to corporate retreats, and members are invited to restaurant nights.
