About the course

Riverside Golf Club lies on the Murray River flood plain at Nichols Point, about 6 km from the centre of Mildura, in a reserve that is part of Parks Victoria. The club grew out of a split in the Mildura Golf Club in 1934 and 1935: members wanting a better site leased Crown land at Sandilong Park, and the Shire built the course using sustenance labour over about six months. It opened in April 1935 with 90 members, and an exhibition match by the professional Fred Thompson a week later drew about 200 players and spectators.

The 18-hole course has grass greens and watered fairways laid out among river red gums and box trees, with billabongs beside the river that draw nesting water birds. From the men's tees it measures 5831 metres and par 72, split 36 out and 36 in; the women's card is 5142 metres and par 73.

  • 2nd: a 441-metre par 5.
  • 5th: the longest hole, a 488-metre par 5.
  • 11th: a 451-metre par 5.
  • 18th: the round finishes with a 146-metre par 3.

Visitors pay $40 for 18 holes and $25 for nine, with juniors $15 and $10. Motorised carts cost $50 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, club hire is $10 and a pull buggy $5. Visitors are welcome to enter the club's competition days.

The licensed clubhouse is open every day, including public holidays, except Christmas Day, and an on-course golf shop sells equipment, snacks and drinks. The driving range, putting and chipping greens and practice bunker are reserved for members. The club also lets a three-bedroom holiday house beside the 18th green that sleeps up to eight.
