About the course

Sale Golf Club is on the Rosedale-Longford Road at Longford, near Sale in Gippsland. The 18-hole course is laid out on sand belt country, with gently undulating fairways and quick greens. The opening three holes lead up to an escarpment with views over RAMSAR-listed wetlands to distant mountains.

The club gives the course as 5770 metres at par 70 for men, and women play it at par 72. Wetlands run along the right of the 4th and 5th, a lake sits right of the 15th, and the 7th has a two-tier green.

6th: the signature hole, a 167-metre par 3 played slightly downhill to an elevated green with wetland views.
16th: at 416 metres the longest hole for men, a par 4 with a fairway bunker about 50 metres short of the green.
18th: a 368-metre par 4 finishing on a large, fast green where it pays to stay below the hole.

Visitors pay $35 for 18 holes and $25 for nine, juniors $23 and $12, and there is a lower rate for golfers playing with members. Carts for non-members are $40 for 18 holes and $25 for nine, pull carts $5, and clubs can be hired for $10 (nine holes) or $15 (18). Tee times are booked by email through the pro shop, and the club can be reached on 03 4159 7180. Competitions run on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, including a veterans' nine-hole stableford on Thursdays.

The pro shop is the first stop for visitors and stocks balls, equipment, drinks and apparel. The clubhouse is available for venue hire.
