About the course

Wangaratta Golf Club was established in 1906 and plays on the grounds of the historic Waldara Homestead, built in 1886, about five kilometres north-west of the Wangaratta town centre on the Yarrawonga Road in the Ovens Valley.

The 18-hole course is gently undulating, fully watered and playable all year, with a par of 69 or 70. It has recently been reworked: three former holes, the old 7th, 12th and 13th, are no longer in play, and the golf shop has a new course map. On the current card the longest hole is the 5th, a 513-metre par 5, and the shortest is the 101-metre par 3 4th.

Visitors are welcome and book tee times by phoning the golf shop. Green fees are $40 for 18 holes and $25 for nine, with students and juniors paying $15 and $10. Carts cost $40 for 18 holes and $25 for nine, and clubs and motorised buggies can be hired. Visitors with a handicap can enter competitions: men play on Wednesdays and Saturdays and women on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with twilight events during daylight saving. Members of the club's reciprocal clubs can play by showing a current Golf Link card.

The undercover driving range has Toptracer, floodlights for use until 10pm and outdoor TVs, and 30-ball buckets cost from about $6, bought in the clubhouse or from a tap-and-go dispenser. The pro shop sells equipment and apparel and opens from 8am daily, until 7pm on Fridays and late at weekends. The clubhouse bar, which opens onto the range, and the showers are open seven days.
