About the course
Altone Park Golf Course is a public nine-hole course on Benara Road in Beechboro, in Perth's north-eastern suburbs. It came under new management in 2011, when the course was in a badly run-down state, and has since been restored.
The nine holes play to par 35 and are played twice from separate tees for an 18-hole round of par 70, measuring 5147 metres for men and 4471 metres for women. Despite its modest length, water comes into play on seven of the nine holes, and the greens are kept quick, usually around 10.5 on the stimpmeter. Each hole has a name:
- 1st: Fearless, a par 4.
- 2nd: The Island, a par 4.
- 6th: Not-A-Drop To Drink, a par 4.
- 9th: Home, a par 5.
The course suits beginners as well as experienced players. Tee times for nine or 18 holes are booked online, and electric carts, club sets and push buggies can be hired. A seven-hole round is offered late in the afternoon. The course opens from 6am on weekdays and 5.30am on weekends, with the last tee time at 4pm.
The driving range is lit for evening practice and runs from 4.30pm to 8pm daily, with grass and synthetic hitting areas and targets at set distances. Lessons are available with the course's instructors, and there is a fully licensed cafe.
