About the course
Maylands Golf Course is a public course on the Maylands Peninsula, on the banks of the Swan River about 7 kilometres from the Perth CBD, with views of the city skyline and Optus Stadium. The land was Perth's civil airport from 1924 until 1963, and Charles Kingsford Smith's Southern Cross landed here at the end of the first non-stop flight across Australia. Golf arrived in 1994 with a nine-hole course, later extended to 18 holes. TenGolf Group took over operations from the City of Bayswater in 2022, and the course reopened on 1 November 2023 after more than $4 million was spent on the clubhouse and restaurant.
The par 71 course has no bunkers, which suits beginners, but water and the river come into play on many holes and several greens are tiered.
- 4th: the signature hole, a 442-metre par 5 with a double dogleg and views of Optus Stadium on the approach.
- 5th: a 116-metre par 3 with water in front of a two-tiered green.
- 14th: a 420-metre par 5 where a drive to the left avoids the trees but brings the river into play.
The course takes public bookings all year, online up to eight days ahead, and fees are paid in the pro shop on arrival. Weekday fees are $38 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, or $44 and $36 on weekends and public holidays. Twilight nine holes is $20, walk-in only with no carts, and midweek concession rates are $31 and $25. Carts cost $50 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, and hire clubs start at $20 a round including a buggy. BYO food and drink is not allowed.
The floodlit, full-length grass driving range has buckets from $13, and there are two putting greens and a chipping green with a bunker. The pro shop offers repairs and fitting, and The LaunchPad is an indoor TrackMan studio. The Hangar cafe, restaurant and bar, named for the old airport, opens from 6.30am every day.
