About the course

Bunbury Golf Club is at Clifton Park, about 10 km north of Bunbury and 150 km south of Perth. The club has played on its present site since 1948. The course covers about 72 hectares of native bush between the Collie River and the Leschenault Estuary and is home to more than 200 kangaroos. The renovated clubhouse sits on a hill looking over the course and the Leschenault Inlet.

The 18-hole course is a well-wooded parkland layout with large, undulating greens, and the south-westerly wind often decides club selection. Holes to note:

9th: a 329-metre par 4, usually into the wind, with a fairway bunker on the left about 190 metres out and a narrow green.
10th: the signature hole, a 124-metre par 3 that drops about 15 metres to a green bunkered on both sides.
15th: a 395-metre par 4, slightly uphill to a narrow landing area and green.
16th: a 172-metre par 3 with deep bunkers on both sides of a narrow green and a swirling wind.

Visitors from around Australia and overseas are welcome, and tee times can be booked online after registering as a public member. The dress code calls for collared shirts, tailored shorts or trousers and soft-spike golf shoes; denim, cargo shorts, singlets and tracksuits are not allowed on the course.

Practice facilities include a driving range of more than 220 metres with marked targets, open daily, putting and chipping greens on the north side of the clubhouse, and a 3,500 square metre short game area between the 17th and 18th fairways. The pro shop is open from 6.30am to 5.30pm every day, with PGA lessons from head professional Travis Lord and his team, and club fitting. The Clubhouse bar and restaurant welcomes visitors for coffee, lunch and dinner, with local South West wines and tap beer.
