About the course
Sanctuary Golf Resort is on Old Coast Road, about eight minutes from central Bunbury and roughly 1.5 hours' drive from Perth. The 18-hole, par 72 course was designed in 1994 by golf course architect Michael Coate and runs through native bushland and landscaped gardens, with a lake beside the driving range.
Added up from the hole lengths the resort publishes, the course is about 5,956 metres, and there are several tee options. The par 5s are:
- 3rd: 463 metres.
- 8th: the longest hole at 496 metres.
- 14th: a short par 5 of 410 metres.
- 16th: 487 metres.
The shortest hole is the 137-metre par 3 13th.
The course is public and open seven days a week, and tee times can be booked online. Weekday green fees are $61 for 18 holes and $41 for nine, rising to $68 and $44 on weekends and public holidays. Lower rates apply for concession holders, guests and juniors under 16. Motorised carts are $54 for 18 holes and $36 for nine, and pull trolleys and clubs can also be hired. For competition play the dress code is tailored shorts or trousers and a collared shirt, with extra options for women; smart casual applies around the clubhouse and range, and thongs and bare feet are not permitted.
The resort has a 150-metre floodlit driving range, which it says was the South West's first, open from 7am to 9pm with an automated ball dispenser (buckets from $12). The pro shop sells apparel and equipment and handles golf bookings. The restaurant and bar is open to the public daily from 11am to 8.30pm, with breakfast from 7am, and 30 resort rooms and apartments are available for stay and play packages.
