About the course
Harvey Golf Club is on Myalup Road in Harvey. Golf in the town dates back to 1930, a history recorded by Sir Donald Eckersley in a booklet covering 1930 to 2003, and the present clubhouse was officially opened in May 1974.
The course is an 18-hole, par 72 layout with fully reticulated fairways and bent grass greens, measuring about 5,856 metres from the men's tees. Large gums, pines and bush line many holes, and out of bounds is in play on several. Holes worth knowing:
- 9th: a 386-metre par 4 rated the hardest on the course, with a green that slopes back to front and is bunkered on both sides.
- 12th: a 339-metre par 4 with out of bounds down the full right side, heavy bush on the left and usually a headwind.
- 14th: a 459-metre double dogleg par 5, regarded as the signature hole.
- 17th: a 177-metre par 3 to a small green, often played into an afternoon headwind.
Visitors can book and pay for tee times online every day, on their own or in groups. Green fees are $40 for 18 holes and $25 for nine, and motorised carts are $40 for 18 holes and $25 for nine; hirers must be 18 or over. Hire clubs are available. Visitors with an active Golflink number can join club competitions for $30, including Wednesday scroungers, Thursday ladies' golf and Saturday mixed fields. The dress code is smart casual with collared shirts and suitable footwear; thongs, singlets and work gear are not permitted.
Facilities include a driving range, change rooms and a clubroom bar. The clubhouse does not open every day, but the club has been trialling Sunday openings from 10am. The clubhouse can be hired for functions, and lessons with the club professional are arranged through the manager.
