About the course

Melville Golf Centre is a family-owned and family-run practice complex in Dimond Court, Leeming, in Perth's southern suburbs. All shots are played off real grass rather than mats, and the centre caters for everyone from learners to professionals.

The golf course is a nine-hole par 3 short course, which sits alongside a floodlit driving range of more than 250 metres with a grassed tee area, a large practice putting green and a chipping area with a bunker. The centre also runs Jumbo Golf, a simpler version of the game played with real clubs and an oversized plastic ball, suitable for ages four and up and often booked for children's parties and team-building days.

The centre is open to the public every day, from 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 8pm on weekends, with shorter hours on public holidays and last balls an hour before closing. The par 3 course costs $10 for nine holes and $17.50 for 18, and seniors pay $8 and $14 on weekdays. Range buckets are $10, $13.50 and $17.50 for about 50, 70 and 100 balls, with weekday seniors' specials before 3pm and discounted bulk ball cards for regulars. Club hire is $5 for adults and $4 for children, and Jumbo Golf costs $15 for adults and $12 for children including clubs, buggy and balls.

Lessons are available with PGA coach Mostyn Farmer. The centre is licensed (no BYO), has free barbecue facilities, takes cash and card, and hosts corporate, social and birthday events.
