About the course
The Cut Golf Course sits in ocean-front dunes at Dawesville, on the Peel region's coast, less than an hour's drive south of Perth. It is a public course designed by James Wilcher, and a links layout that works with the natural dunes and contours, with views over the Indian Ocean.
The 18 holes play to par 72 and 6385 metres from the back tees. Men have black, blue, white and newly added yellow tees, and women play from red or white. Sea breezes affect many holes on the exposed parts of the site.
- 8th: the longest par 4 at 438 metres, played uphill.
- 10th: a 419-metre par 4 with a blind tee shot through a valley lined with peppermint trees.
- 12th: a 400-metre par 4 from an exposed clifftop tee beside the beach.
- 16th: a 134-metre par 3 from the highest point on the course, where wind direction matters.
- 18th: a 552-metre par 5, the longest hole, which changes character in a sea breeze.
No membership is needed and booking ahead is advised. Weekday (Monday to Thursday) walk-in rates are $77 for 18 holes and $55 for nine, with cheaper rates online; Friday to Sunday and public holidays cost more. A shared electric cart seat is $25 for 18 holes, and the pro shop hires standard, premium, ladies', junior and left-handed sets. A seniors' package runs on Tuesdays. The course opens 6.30am to 5.30pm in summer and 7am to 4.30pm in winter. Collared shirts and socks are required, and denim, tracksuits and board shorts are not allowed.
The driving range has covered mat bays with card-operated ball dispensers and opens daily from 6am to 7.45pm without booking. Coaching is run through the Cut Golf Academy with TrackMan. The restaurant and bar overlook the course, with breakfast on weekends, lunch daily and dinner on Fridays and weekends.
