About the course
Wembley Golf Course is a public golf facility at 200 The Boulevard, Wembley Downs, about 9 km from the Perth CBD, set within roughly 300 acres of parkland. The Town of Cambridge owns and runs the venue, which was named WA Metropolitan Golf Facility of the Year for 2023.
There are two 18-hole layouts. The Old Course goes back to 1932, when Walter Fox laid out the first eighteen holes, and it still follows much of its original routing, with a number of doglegs; it is a par 72 of close to 5,800 metres from the back tees. The Tuart Course grew from a first nine finished in 1959. It is a par 70 of 5,372 metres from the back, with narrower fairways and water in play on two holes.
The course is open every day of the year except Christmas Day, from sunrise until 9pm Monday to Saturday between September and May, with earlier closing in winter. Weekday green fees are $44 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, rising to $50 and $36 on weekends and public holidays. Seniors and students pay $35 and $27 on weekdays, and a twilight round is $22 with no booking needed. Tee times are booked online and fees are paid on the day at the golf shop. Electric carts cost $52 for 18 holes and are arranged on the day, as they cannot be pre-booked. Players need a shirt or blouse and substantial shoes; thongs, sandals, work boots and singlets are not allowed.
Practice facilities include an 80-bay, two-level undercover driving range fitted with TrackMan Range, four practice putting greens, three chipping areas and three practice bunkers. The golf shop has more than 200 square metres of floor space, an indoor putting green, PGA professionals, repairs and a club fitting studio, and lessons are available. The site also has a mini golf course, a playground and the 300 Acres restaurant and bar, which is run as a separate business.
